The Wolverine[b] is a 2013 superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. It is the sixth installment in the X-Men film series, the second installment in the trilogy of Wolverine films after X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), and a spin-off/sequel to X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).

Following the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, Logan travels to Japan, where he engages an old acquaintance in a struggle that has lasting consequences. Stripped of his healing powers, Wolverine must battle deadly samurai while struggling with guilt over Jean Grey’s death.
The film’s development began in 2009 after the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Christopher McQuarrie was hired to write a screenplay for The Wolverine in August 2009. In October 2010, Darren Aronofsky was hired to direct the film. The project was delayed following Aronofsky’s departure and the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. In June 2011, Mangold was brought on board to replace Aronofsky. Bomback was then hired to rewrite the screenplay in September 2011. The supporting characters were cast in July 2012 with principal photography beginning at the end of the month around New South Wales before moving to Tokyo in August 2012 and back to New South Wales in October 2012. The film was converted to 3D in post-production.
The Wolverine was released by 20th Century Fox in various international markets on July 24, 2013, and in the United States two days later. It received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for its action sequences, performances (especially Jackman’s), and thematic profundity, though some criticism was directed at the predictable story and climax. The film earned $414 million worldwide, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film in the series. A third film titled Logan was released on March 3, 2017.
The gap between international and American basketball might be closing, but the gap between Kevin Durant and every other scorer, if not player, in the world right now is as big as ever. Durant, who is arguably the greatest Olympic player in United States history, led Team USA past France, 87-82, on Friday with 29 points as the Americans secured their fourth straight gold medal.
Yet again, the U.S. started slowly. It couldn’t hit any 3s in the early going, and France looked comfortable getting buckets. But Durant didn’t mess around for long. Throwing that whole “let the game come to you” adage out the window, he started cooking when Team USA couldn’t find a bucket elsewhere. Through three quarters, he couldn’t be stopped. By the time France started icing him out in the fourth, it was a little too late.
“We tried to make him work as hard as we can, but he’s Kevin Durant,” France center Rudy Gobert said. “He’s going to hit shots that only him, in the world, can hit. … I think he’s the best scorer in basketball. He’s going to do what he does, especially on the biggest stage.”
Dating back to 2012, Durant, who joins Carmelo Anthony as the only U.S. players with three Olympic gold medals, has scored 30, 30 and 29 points in those three gold-medal games. His name will be, and should be, at the top of every story about this team.
